About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

Teen angst platform
My feeble attempt at dramatic reading. I know I need to work on using my voice better. It doesn’t help that I can’t stand listening to it. You can take that as a warning. I thought I’d try to do … Continue reading
The contest somebody could win
I saw the assignment name, the contest nobody could win, and took it as a challenge. Could I find bits that are reasonably recognizable? I don’t think I was quite up to it though – the D and S are … Continue reading
Another 4 icons
Had to try another. This movie changed my life.
The one percent
Sorry to get all pessimistic and political, but I think it’s a problem with our society. Kind of a truth about the movie as well, sort of. The first challenge was getting rid of the real subheading. I used the … Continue reading
Name that tune
This is an old song all the people were singing in the seventies. Probably no one knows it, or the name of the band (no matter how many hints I drop). Can you guess? Two of the symbols came from … Continue reading
Unconventional feline activity
Alan Levine tweeted a treasure trove of Soviet propaganda to provide some source material for the DS106 propaganda poster assignment. The sidebar on the site has some cool links, like the collection of Stanley Kubrick photographs of Chicago. A link to … Continue reading

Where’d that guy come from?
One of my musical heroes is the Godfather of Soul himself, Mr. James Brown. Being a colorful character given to dramatic poses, I thought he’d be perfect for this assignment. So I found this picture, which includes his hairdresser as … Continue reading
Four icon concert
The Rolling Stones’ US tour of 1969 culminated in a free concert in the San Francisco area. Being free, the concert drew a larger crowd than anticipated. The Hell’s Angels were used as security. They beat up a number of … Continue reading
At the Mountains of Madness
I found this through a google image search. Since it was posted on a discussion forum, I was able to contact the creator (stuart) for permission to molest his work. I’m not sure if this movie project is still underway, … Continue reading
the survival rate for everyone drops to zero
Interesting how this assignment works. You put together three random elements to make a unified thing – an album cover. The Wikipedia link to me to a page titled Laws of infernal dynamics, which is not the best band name, … Continue reading
