About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

Is this design?
I saw The Color of Words assignment elsewhere, so I thought I’d take a look at it. I used joy as my keyword, in true Bob fashion, and the above image is what I got. One of the images in … Continue reading
One book over the line
A few days ago, a new alleged reading promotion poster from the Chicago Public Library came to my attention. I shared it with some colleagues, and one responded with this graphic. Weeding is librarian talk for the process of removing … Continue reading
The Dark Side of the Bob
There was a Daily Create last week about what was going on just off the album cover image. I think someone had Wish You Were Here in there and that gave me the idea to have Bob setting it on … Continue reading
How not to choose a design assignment
So I told myself: I’ll do a design assignment. I’ll click the random button and do whichever on it gives me. So what do I get? The Spreadsheet Invasion. What the heck should I do with that? And how the … Continue reading

The Hits Keep Coming…
One of our ds106 crew had the brilliant idea to put an 80s twist on the Name That Single assignment, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I wonder if we can make a trend out of this. I … Continue reading

Recover the classics
The Creative Action Network is running a campaign for Recovering the Classics. I thought it would make a good assignment, so now it is. Supposedly you get a kickback if your cover sells. So I made this thing: I probably … Continue reading

Tales from DS106
Jim wrote a bit about sharing comic books with his kids and talked about making an animated GIF out of one of the covers I want to have the dude who is buried alive slamming on the coffin, need to talk … Continue reading
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I loved that western showdown scene between the police and the FBI. This part had GIF written all over it. I had the idea to put the three of them together, so I was careful to make all of them … Continue reading
