About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

Red stripe
This flag belonged to my grandparents. I like that it has 48 stars. Given its age, and the fact that I had it hanging on the porch for about ten years, it has lost a lot of color. I just … Continue reading
Memorable day, or A Wedding Gif
Today’s TDC is a challenge. How do I create a photo of five years ago on my wedding day? I have pictures, but I didn’t make them. So I made one move:
flickrSlidr
I’ve been looking for a way to get my flickr in my blog. I wanted some kind of slide show, so I Googled around and found the Ultimate Photo Widget. I tried to make a page just for flickr, and … Continue reading

Ringtone
I use the “whoa ha hey” from Funkadelic’s Music For My MotherĀ as my main ringtone, so for today’s TDC I just hummed it. This was easy to do. I had previously installed the Soundcloud app on my phone. I didn’t … Continue reading
re: 7 things… Creative Commons, Web 2.0 Storytelling
Lessig gave a great TED talk on the need for copyright reform. It’s good to watch for his storytelling style as well as the content Larry Lessig: How creativity is being strangled by the law: Fair use, as I understand … Continue reading
Spammity spam
I found a message in my spam folder: Absolutely pent written content, thanks for entropy. “Absolutely pent” intrigues me. It makes me think of something about to explode, or something just burst. “Thanks for entropy”? You’re welcome. Glad I could … Continue reading

It’s surprising to get so many positive comments on my pictures, especially coming from people who can actually take good photographs. I tend to be unhappy with my photos, in part because of my limited ability and in part due … Continue reading
