About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

Fun with fine art
Since Banksy is doing his NYC residency this month, I thought I’d take another shot at animated graffiti. Except this isn’t really graffiti. Whatever. I thought the velvet ropes on the traffic pylons were a nice touch. The original image has … Continue reading

The colorized zone
The seed for this idea came from seeing @arlanamcbear’s take on the color splash assignment, and when the idea was seconded in a comment by Andrew Forgrave, I had to do it. The scene comes from the Twilight Zone episode … Continue reading
Fun with Comic Sans
Dean Shareski made a ds106 assignment out of Oleg Tarasov’s experiments in using Comic Sans in popular logos. I couldn’t help but do the obvious thing. Sorry. At least I used 106 point type.
GIF-fiti
The Animated Bansky GIFs showed up on my Twitter feed last week sometime, I think. Cogdog tweeted them again today, so I innocently inquired if animated graffiti was an assignment yet. To which he barked, “Do it yourself, you worthless maggot!” … Continue reading
Slide guy saves the Dutch
Steklenberg thought he was beaten… but Slide Guy comes in to make a crucial save! And laughs mockingly at the Danish midfielder.
tie me up, tie me down
The Daily Create for the day is to “Take a picture featuring rope or knots.” Given my genetic predisposition for making puns, there was no avoiding this. I was hoping to find a picture of Don Knotts tied up, or … Continue reading
I suppose you expect me to talk
When the commercial for Cee Lo’s show came on, my wife asked, “What’s he doing with the cat?” “Maybe he wants to be Blofeld.” She didn’t get it, but it made me think of the triple troll quote. So I … Continue reading
the survival rate for everyone drops to zero
Interesting how this assignment works. You put together three random elements to make a unified thing – an album cover. The Wikipedia link to me to a page titled Laws of infernal dynamics, which is not the best band name, … Continue reading
comic book effect
I had more hair then.
Red stripe
This flag belonged to my grandparents. I like that it has 48 stars. Given its age, and the fact that I had it hanging on the porch for about ten years, it has lost a lot of color. I just … Continue reading
