About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

The Vignelli Canon
Another design resource that’s worth looking at is The Vignelli Canon. It’s a short booklet by Massimo Vignelli, who was a superstar in the world of graphic design. The booklet is light on text and heavy on space and imagery, … Continue reading

I thought the idea of a Wanted Poster assignment was perfect for wire106. Hats off to Kris for making it. McNulty ought be get hauled in for his escapades in the last episode, so I thought he’d make a good … Continue reading
Simonian LOLcat
I decided to try my hand at the Shakespearean LOLcat assignment, but since this is Wire106 and not Hamlet106, I made a Simonian LOLcat. It’s a picture of my friend Coaltrain from across the street. I’m not sure why it … Continue reading
Taking shots at episode 6

I’ve been seeing these maddenGIFERATOR images in my Tumblr stream, so I thought I’d try one with a quote from The Wire. Apparently “I tell your wife, you tell mine” is an illegal use of words, so I had to … Continue reading
TV on the radio
One of the illustrious ds106 internauts came up with the idea of live tweeting an episode of The Wire. A very cool idea, especially for an online class, because it helps create a sense of community. So for Intro to … Continue reading
What is digital storytelling?
There are lots of ways to tell stories. We’re used to words, spoken or written, and video, but there’s more. Pictures tell stories. Music tells stories. The web opens up a whole new territory. I stumbled upon Clubbo Records something … Continue reading
