About raptnrent: I got the name from my keys - R Apt and R Ent for the back door to my apartment and the back door to the house. I liked that they were also words: Rapt, meaning enthralled, riveted, captivated, and Rent, meaning torn asunder, violently wrenched. I thought it made for an interesting juxtaposition, open to all kinds of interpretations.

Back in the day, friend of ds106 John Johnston made some awesome supercuts using Videogrep: I always wanted to try it, but I could never get it to work. I have a hard time finding appropriate directions for doing any … Continue reading
11-7@7-11
The oddest thing I found in a 7-11 store was a job. I worked the 11-7 shift in the summer when I was in college. What was odd, to me, was the way I got the job. A friend came … Continue reading
“You tried to walk on the trail we were carving”
I managed to do a couple of shows on ds106 radio over the holiday weekend. Even more surprising was that they had semi-coherent themes, as opposed to my usual random shuffling. Alan had an impressive rant on Edtech Who the … Continue reading

GIFvasion of the Body Snatchers
The 33 1/3 book on Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables referenced a Rebecca Solnit essay, Rattlesnake in Mailbox: Cults, Creeps, California in the 1970s, which declared Invasion of the Body Snatchers to be “1978’s definitive film.” This meant I needed … Continue reading
Info Lit 106
Last week I saw a call for chapter proposals for a book in the Innovations in Information Literacy series on digital storytelling. I’ve been interested in the outside-the-box connections among information literacy and digital storytelling since I first became involved … Continue reading
Danger: Hippies
When @cogdog points out something online, I try to pay attention. So when he highlighted the Internet Archive’s filmstrip collection, I took a look. https://mastodon.social/@cogdog/108204893865114931 The Hippies caught my eye. It’s a somewhat strident and paranoid view of 60s counterculture, … Continue reading
Do the facemash
Our new old radio friend Scott Lo came up with this triple troll in response to a ds106radio discussion of Bono and Bono: Triple troll quote #ds106 #VisualAssignments24 #ds106radio pic.twitter.com/Q4Ihs1AGxq — Radio Eugene (@RadioEUG) April 3, 2022 I wondered if … Continue reading
