Dr. Roadrunner or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Daily Create

I recently finished listening to an audiobook of Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian. There are thousands of great sentences in the book, but one quote jumped out at me in particular:

So when I saw today’s Daily Create, I immediately had a starting point. When one thinks of birds and the West, the Roadrunner naturally comes to mind. So Wile E. Coyote would make a good image:

But then who do I attribute it to? I wanted to keep with the bird/flight theme. As I was thinking about flying cowboys, I remembered Slim Pickens in the climactic scene of Dr. Strangelove. I’m sure that image of the coyote helped. So I used Wile E. for the attribution:
